WotLK Classic: Developers plan Ulduar tests before Christmas

It is still uncertain when the second phase of WoW WotLK Classic will start, but at least the Blizzard developers have played a first version of the next WotLK Classic patch on the test server. And they hope to start a first round of testing for the Ulduar raid before Christmas. The dates currently planned are December 8th to 12th, 2022 - but that can still change.

There's a lot going on in WoW! The pre-event for WoW: Dragonflight is in its final stages on the live servers, and the journey to the Dragon Islands will start on November 29, 2022 at 00:00. And in WoW WotLK Classic, the second phase of the Classic experience is also slowly happening: There is now a first build of the Classic patch from phase 2 on the test servers, which lets you try out the titan rune dungeon versions.

Not yet available, however, is the highlight of Phase 2, the Ulduar raid, which all sorts of players may experience in WotLK Classic gold for the very first time in their WoW career. The developers of the Classic team hope that the tests of the raid will take place before Christmas.

Target Ulduar tests for December 8-12, 2022

When asked by Classic fan Zclap whether the raid can still be played before Christmas, Classic Game Producer Aggrend gives a comprehensive answer. So the Blizzard developers want to start the Ulduar tests on December 8th and then let them run until December 12th. However, according to Aggrend, this is only a planned timeline and not an official confirmation. Why?

"That's a perfectly reasonable request, especially because of the holidays," Aggend replies to Zclap's post. "There are many reasons we are reluctant to announce PTR test dates too far in advance, but the main reason is that new content in development tends to introduce issues and delays that are sometimes difficult to predict and It often happens that we have set a date for testing internally and then find a bug or other major issue just before that date and are then forced to reschedule testing at the last minute, which is good for everyone feels bad for stakeholders when we've already announced our plans."

Aggrend already warns that the Ulduar tests could then be announced at very short notice if the developers should just get in the way of a plot stopper bug and torpedo the desire for raid tests in mid-December 2022. In addition, Aggend promises that he wants to improve the communication of such data in the future. You can read his full answer on the WoW forums.
